I’m having a cardiac Abelation next month. Just an easy “procedure” they say.

Where will this be I say. Doylestown Hospital they say. Then I say, I was born in that hospital 75 years ago. 75 years ago? My words bounced around in my noggin. Suddenly. 75 years hit me. I was born 3/4 of a CENTURY ago. Geez.

I’m satisfied. I do everything for my family, friends and me now. Not just to accomplish something. I chased accomplishments for years. First it was my ego. Then slowly for my teams. It was a process. I’ve received a few sports awards in my life. At first they meant a lot to me. Then slowly they meant a lot to me and my teams. Then, all I could think of was how so many people and fortunate situations assisted the accomplishment. I was much less special than I thought.

Changing gears.

Jeeps and ducks. Did you know that you can put a duck on a jeep that you think is cool? Some Jeep owners think this is ridiculous. Me, I think it’s fun.

Only my wife had given me a duck. She gave me two ducks. One seems never to be enough for either of us. I stuck it to my dashboard. Is that what you call that flat place between you and the windshield? Now you will see ducks. You will see some Jeeps with a whole bunch of ducks there. I had one.

Then I was at Giant…

I was getting out of my car and an elderly women was unloading her groceries in a white car. Why do mature women all drive white cars? Anyway. She says, “Will you wait just a second sir?” Sure, I said. “My grandson wants to give you something.” This little boy, maybe 5, says to me as he reaches up a plastic bag full of colorful stuff. “Here would you like a duck?” I said, I sure would!” I took the bag and looked through and found one with garland around its head and a bikini top on. Ha. I took it out and said, ” Thank you so much! I’m going to put this right up front in my Jeep!” He was delighted. So was I.

My first duck; first real duck. Life can be so special at times like this.

All In Again.
