I bought my first good pair of hiking boots today. Timberland. Everyone said Merrell so I got Timberland.  Besides, they feel really good.  Like any of the other activities I have done, in time I will know what the right purchases are. I have an amazing collection of active gear: Bodyboards, Surfboards, SUP, Kayaks, Wetsuits, Bicycles, X Country Skis. Snowboards, Skiboards. Longboard Skateboards. Fishing Gear. I’m a 65 year old retired Physical Education teacher with ADHD. That is how I became a PE teacher. No meds success story. I am a surfer first and everything else after. Division One football player then HS football coach. Recovering Alcoholic with 19 and 3/4 years clean. More on that later.

I always wanted to write. I always wanted to paint.  I paint and now I will write.

This will be my hiking journal.  My goal is to overnight hike on the AT in EVERY state that is crosses. Seems like a goal I can do at 65 before I’m mulch. Yes, mulch.  I don’t believe in any of the afterlife stuff. It’s all just matter and energy to me and that is REALLY OK. So I will write after EVERY hike starting tomorrow. Even if it is only a sentence, I will write.
