Today’s loop. Covered the Northwest section of Peace Valley Park.

This was yesterday’s loop.

I just did a fast paced hour today. Bad weather is looming…snow then a warming trend and heavy rain. I may not get out for a few days.

Cute.

I’m adjusting my plan. Not an overnight hike in all the AT states, just a day hike. Maybe 3 hours in, lunch, and return. I can reach all the states in one day. Get a cheap room, get up and hike, back to the room overnight and home.

Maybe I find a trail “angel” to return me to my room so I can hike all day one direction.

I’m going to map all these hikes and see how much of the AT I can cover. Doing day hikes means my costs for equipment are way lower. We’ll see how it goes.

    This is interesting. I’ll try to follow your adventures.
    I spoke to a fellow who “reverse hiked” the AT by himself using 2 vehicles. When I get the info, I’ll share it…I think his method might be right up your alley. (And if he can do it, so can you!)

      Thanks for the question EYREISH! I’m a retired PE teacher with ADHD. I have coached a number of sports. I have had back surgery. I need to keep my weight down. Having said all that, the movement in the hiking is not as repetitive as all the other things I do to burn calories and get cardio benefits. So it doesn’t seem to hurt much even after 3 or 4 hours. That’s not the case with walking or cycling for me. Also, I lose myself in the solitude and peace of the woods. There is no competition. I don’t time myself. I stop when I am out of breath. I stop just to look. All this and I’m sure I’m burning calories and getting my pulse up to beneficial levels. I just love this.

        You’d be surprised. The golf stuff is easy. Don’t have to drill too deep for that. My “not blog” should be more about the rest of my world. Just not sure the world is ready for that.
