No Sleep

My father always got us up early to go fishing. Sometimes to the Shore, but most time in the Poconos. He was always excited, so I was excited. I guess his dad must have done it to him. My older brother is the same. We get up early. We never oversleep. It’s a curse.

I’ve recently been to a sleep study. Wires all over me for the night in a strange room. I slept ok, because I always sleep just ok. I woke up a couple of times. I guess that isn’t so abnormal. There were two of us in separate rooms. The woman in the other room hardly slept at all. I’ll bet she sleeps great at home. I sleep badly everywhere, so what’s the big deal?

The big deal is that I had a TIA. Sleep is essential in the reduction of stroke related risk. So I be in bed by 10 or 10:30 and I stay in bed until 6.

At 4 today I was wide awake. My brain whirring. I was thinking of something I had to do. Some fun thing. It was drawing me out of bed. I don’t even remember what it was! I fought it off. Fell back asleep at around 4:30. Woke up again at 5:15. Fell asleep until 5:55 and turned off the alarm and put on the 6 minute meditation I do every morning to align my personal planets.

I’m rested. More rested that I would have been if I had gotten up at 4. I won’t need a nap today. I will get more done and be in a better frame of mind. I didn’t believe that this would work for me. Staying in bed.

It does.

  1. My problem is I get a 2nd wind between 11 pm and 2 am which means I don’t get up early. My husband is the opposite. He’s in bed before 10 and up by 7 ready for his early morning workout. I don’t think I’ve ever liked getting up early.
